twins-oct. 6We made it to a year! Happy Birthday to our sweet little pumpkins. What a year it’s been and what a wonderful blessing these two are in our lives. We had a wonderful weekend celebrating. They were baptized on Saturday, we had a birthday party on Sunday and on Monday (their birthday) we got to spend the day as a family. The babies even had their first ice cream cone for a special birthday treat!

Just like every month before, life with twins is getting a little more easy and a lot more fun. They are busy little bees, keeping me on my toes. Lucy is now walking and getting into all kinds of things. I love watching her proudly waddle around. She loves to walk up to me and hand me her toys. She’ll be a good little helper someday. She’s a little spitfire, so full of life and personality. We’re so in love with this little girl.

Karson isn’t walking yet but I’m so proud of how he has progressed in the last couple months. I’ll admit I was a little worried about his development for a while but he’s coming in at his own pace. He’s crawling well, pulling himself up and standing with support. At this rate he’ll probably be walking within a month or so. He’s such a smart little guy too, curious and interested in his surroundings. He’s sweet, gentle and the best little cuddler. You can already see how much he loves his sister and I’m so grateful for their already budding friendship.

They’re starting to repeat words and sounds. They both say “mama” and “dada” quite often. Karson also likes to say “ball.” They still love peek-a-boo, love giving kisses, and they love to dance. They bob up and down, flailing their arms and shaking their heads at any sound of music. They really have some nice moves and I see a lot of living room dance parties in our future.

We’re still nursing and sometimes it feels like almost as much as ever. Now that we’ve made it to a year, I’d like to start a slow progression of weaning them. I’m not quite sure what that will look like and I’m not in a hurry but maybe if I just start thinking about the idea, we’ll start moving in that direction.

I’m really looking forward to the coming year. They have so many discoveries to make and I feel so blessed to be able to be right alongside them through the process.

We didn’t fully know what to expect when these little bundles came into our world but I can truly say life has been so good since they did. Even on a tough day these little faces, fingers, toes and legs make it all worth it. This past year was hard but amazingly fulfilling for Nate and I. Making it out alive and still madly in love, I feel like we can now make it through anything together, especially with these two little amazing people at our side.
