Kathleen “Casey” Carey, MD knew at age 18 that she wanted to practice medicine because of her deep rooted desire to help people. She chose radiology because of the knowledge base it required. “Radiologists help multiple medical specialties make decisions for the best patient care; they are the ‘doctor’s doctor’, Carey said” The idea of coordinated care and teamwork hooked Dr. Carey and she never looked back.
Dr. Carey completed her medical schooling at the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to the University of Florida where she did a surgical internship and then a 4 year diagnostic radiology residency. From Florida, Dr. Carey made her way out west to Oregon Health and Sciences University to complete her fellowship in neuroradiology. The complexity of neuroradiology fascinated her. She helps diagnose and works closely with clinicians managing stroke, brain cancer, and neurodegenerative disease such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.
She is an avid horseback rider and already has made her home in McMinnville complete with an “off the track” thoroughbred. Together, they are training in jumping and hunting. Dr. Carey’s husband is also a physician who is working in Willamette Valley Medical Center’s Emergency department. They both fell in love with the McMinnville community and are very much looking forward to serving in it for many years!
