Recently, a wonderful friend of mine gave me a fresh, custom-engraved 40 ounce lava red Hydroflask that has become my at-work water container, and my sister-in-law helped me celebrate my 38th birthday with an awesome 18 ounce kiwi green Hydroflask, perfect for the cup-holder in my car and toting around town.
I’m telling you, these are some awesome containers, but wow, they have really changed my life over the last month. I had no idea how much having a cool water container was going to change my water consumption habits.
I share this with you because prior to last month, I’ve always struggled to drink enough water each day. There have been certainly been times in my life that I’ve been better about, but on the whole, I can honestly say I’ve never been a huge water drinker. Perhaps you can relate?
It’s not that I don’t like water; I just simply forget to drink it throughout the day. It’s true that there are plenty of other sources of water, including all the beverages we drink and the foods that we eat, but as far as committing to drinking just water, I’ve been failing.
Most people should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound they weigh, every day. At around 200 pounds, that means I should be drinking at least 100 ounces of water every day! Have I been doing that? Well, not up until about a month ago.
Since I received my Hydroflasks, I’ve been focused on drinking at least 3 fills each day, and I’m doing it!!!! Perhaps it’s because the water stays cold and tastes delicious. Perhaps it’s because I have some containers that I think look cool. Or perhaps it’s because I have a visual reminder right there in front of me all the time.
Either way, I’m drinking the recommended amount of daily water, and I can feel the difference. I feel more alert. My skin looks and feels better. I’m drinking far less pop. I’m simply enjoying drinking water now.
But this isn’t some product placement blog (although I will confirm that being on Team Hydroflask is pretty awesome, just ask all the staff members around the hospital who have one of these containers). There are countless container options available for every style, taste, and flavor. Find one that shows off your favorite football team. Look for your favorite color, or a cool style and shape.
Try to find a water container that speaks to you, and give it a shot. Focusing on drinking more water will help you replace those high-calorie sodas, juices, and energy drinks, with the best liquid of all, water!
One of the most important things that you can do to improve your overall health, is drink water. Focusing on this one simple task can completely transform your life and help you get the ball rolling on the path to good health. Now go find a cool water container and get going!
