Childbirth Education Series

Prepare for your baby’s arrival with calm and confidence in this 6 week course. Learn about the many choices you can consider as you near the end of your pregnancy: nutrition, comfort during late pregnancy, physical and emotional experiences of labor for mothers and partners, comfort techniques (breathing, relaxation, massage, etc) for labor and birth, medications and medical procedures, postpartum care for mother and baby, and so much more! Each series includes a full class dedicated to newborn care and one to breastfeeding. Also, a birthing center tour, as well as educational videos and handouts, will be provided.

One Day Childbirth Education Class

Prepare for your baby’s arrival with calm and confidence in this full day class. Learn about the many choices you can consider as you near the end of your pregnancy, including topics such as nutrition, comfort during late pregnancy, physical and emotional experiences of labor for mothers and partners, comfort techniques (breathing, relaxation, massage, etc.) for labor and birth, medications and medical procedures, postpartum care for mother and baby, and so much more! A tour of the birthing center, as well as educational videos and handouts will be provided. Small snacks are also available.

Location: Birthing Center Classroom

Cost: $65–$85

Newborn Care Class

This class is included in the child preparation series and can be added to any one day Saturday class. If you would just like a course on newborn care, then this is the one for you. In this class you learn “the basics” as well as creative solutions to living and caring for your newborn. Includes car seat safety information and inspection.

Breastfeeding Class

This class is included in the child preparation series but if you would just like a course on breastfeeding this is the one for you. This class helps you get off to a confident start with your baby, with information about the great benefits of breastfeeding, community resources for support, how breastfeeding works’ for mothers and baby, and what to do if you face challenges.

Safe Sitter Class

Geared for ages 11 and up, the class is taught by certified instructors who are RNs from our Birthing Center and will cover basic skills such as first aid, basic childcare, as well as tips on managing behavior. When you leave you will be prepared to babysit with the skills and confidence to be the best babysitter on the block.

New Moms Group

Moms with babies up to two years old are welcome to join us each week for this very informal session. You may come and go at any time between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. You’ll meet with other new moms and a registered nurse to discuss infant development, health and social issues, breastfeeding and other important topics. Siblings and toddlers are welcome!
