McMinnville, Sept. 24, 2015- It is not every day that we get a visit from one of our corporate leaders, but today was a special day. Last month Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC) was honored with 7 corporate achievement awards, and as an organization, WVMC could not have been more proud. That is until today. Today Mark Medley honored Mr. Ed Gormley with the Capella Healthcare Board Leadership Award.
“As many of you already know, Ed has been on the WVMC hospital Board for many years… since 2001, in fact. Ed worked hard as a new board member to learn and understand this hospital and the health care industry, both the technical issues as well as the dynamics. And, he’s worked hard for 14 years to elevate the hospital’s perception in the community. Ed has been very engaged as a Board member – as he is in all of his work. He takes a “hands on” approach and is able to get people together to make things happen. Ed also happens to have been the longest-serving mayor in McMinnville’s history (24 years). He has been very supportive of this hospital, sharing our story in a very effective way, with everyone he knows. We have benefitted greatly from your affiliation and your leadership, Ed.” said Mark Medley.
As a leader of the WVMC board, Ed has worked on many projects including revision of bylaws, medical staff appointments, etc. Peter Hofstetter said that Ed’s “leadership style and calm yet assertive demeanor has made him an effective board member and helped our organization grow and evolve immensely.”
On behalf of Capella Healthcare and Willamette Valley Medical Center, Thank you Ed Gormley for your continued service and leadership in our community.
