This month has gone by so fast. I can’t believe that it is already almost February. Last week I began talking about my exercise goals. When I started thinking about what to write about this week, I decided that healthy eating and exercise shouldn’t be my only goals. They are definitely important for improving my health, but I decided also to do some “Winter cleaning”.
My first goal is to clean up all aspects of my life. The first step was to clean my room. It took a weekend to go through all my old clothes, craft supplies and trinkets. However at the end, I had an organized closet, craft area and comfy bed. Then last night, I cleaned out our storage room. I found stuff in there that I had not seen since Elementary school! With some hard work and elbow grease we ended up clearing half of our storage out.
It is such an invigorating feeling to de-clutter your surroundings. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. By clearing out things I didn’t need anymore, I feel more focused on the positive changes in my life. For example, I sold my large clothes to a plus size consignment store. This encourages me to keep looking towards the future in my weight loss journey. Not only am I working on improving my health physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
After I graduate in June, I hope to be able to find a good job and travel. By losing weight and focusing on improving my organizational skills, I feel like I can succeed. I have a long ways to go, but I guess what I am learning is that everything doesn’t happen at once and it shouldn’t. But by taking these baby steps towards a better life, I have the confidence to know I can overcome whatever will come my way.
