Note: Kendra is expecting twins in October and has agreed to share her thoughts about her pregnancy here each week.
Well, I made it another week! Each week that goes by, I feel a little bit more relieved.
I’m currently 33 weeks and less than 3 weeks away from my goal of getting to at least 36 weeks. I’m still up and moving around and thankful that I haven’t been put on bed rest. I am pretty slow moving, and I do need to lay down quite often, but it’s nice to have the freedom to get up and around when I want to.
At yesterday’s appointment we saw Karson and Lucy on the ultrasound and they are looking great. They are both measuring the same, at 4 pounds, 10 ounces each. My pregnancy app on my phone says they weigh as much as a pineapple, but the pineapples I found were only a couple pounds each, so it’s more like four pineapples!
They are growing and becoming more and more like little humans as opposed to the little gummy bears or alien-like figures they once appeared to be. Seeing them look so big and lifelike is helping it all sink in because believe it or not I still don’t think it has really hit me yet. I’m starting to wonder if it really will until I hold them in my arms.
Going over our birth plan with Dr. Neeld made me feel a lot more at ease, and I finally feel like we’re ready-ready. After a lot of my own research and discussion with him and other midwives in the office, I feel informed about my options, and I can trust that we’re all on the same page regarding the experience we are hoping for.
Nate has been great taking the time to read up on how he can help and his role in the birthing process. His foot massages are pretty wonderful, too.
After the appointment we made a final Target run and we were able to grab the remaining items on our baby checklist. The nursery is done and all the baby clothes are washed, hung and ready for little bodies.
I have a couple batches of salsa to can, a few burp rags to sew and some meals to throw in the freezer, but for the most part all I need to do is lay back and hold these babes in for a few more weeks! All I can say now is thank goodness for air conditioning!
