Groundbreaking Program Supporting Nursing

The LPN to RN Apprenticeship Program is designed to support Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in advancing their education and achieving licensure as Registered Nurses (RNs) through a structured one-year program that combines academic instruction with clinical training.
Program Benefits
- Establishment of a formal partnership with Chemeketa Community College.
- Participants are employed and compensated as hospital staff while actively enrolled in the program.
- Graduates advance to a Registered Nurse (RN) position at WVMC upon successful program completion.
Program Structure
- Eligibility: Current LPNs that work full or part time. Future LPNs who are hired on to work full or part time.
- Program Duration: 1/5/25-12/13/25 (first cohort), 9/29/25-8/29/26 (second cohort) combining clinical shifts and academic training.
- Education Partnership: Collaboration with Chemeketa Community College to offer classroom learning and online modules.
- Clinical Training: Apprenticeship structure where LPNs work clinical hours under RN supervision while attending coursework.
Mentorship
- Experienced registered nurses act as preceptors for licensed practical nurse apprentices, offering real-time guidance and support during their training.
When program is concluded, new RNs will automatically be enrolled in WVMC's Nurse Residency Program.
