Nurse Residency Program
Transitioning from the classroom to the bedside can be a difficult journey for new nurses. The nurse residency program at Willamette Valley Medical Center offers the perfect environment for recent graduate nurses to develop proficiency in both their new role and our organization’s culture.
Through a blended learning experience that combines online modules with in-person mentorship, this program offers a bridge between academic preparation and practice. RN residents will gain hands-on experience using the latest in medical technology, have access to professional development opportunities, and receive personalized support our experienced mentors/preceptors.

- Phase 1: Clinical Competency

- This orientation phase is highlighted by residents transitioning to independent care as clinical proficiency expands under the guidance of the preceptor/mentor.

- Phase 2: Cultural Transition

- Critical thinking, communication and safety skills, and harm prevention techniques are honed, with on-site support as residents explore meaningful capstone project topics.

- Phase 3: Leadership Development

- Resident-led capstone project is completed, as RN assimilates into care team with confidence.

Eligibility
New graduate nurses with less than one year of experience are eligible to apply for a position as an RN resident.
